My name is Anna Duyunova. I am Canadian artist. My art always comes from the heart. It is my personal experience and power to speak about lyrics and dramatic poetry of life by art.
For me, art is not an imitation of nature. I create works with a combination of reality and wonderland, painting landscapes and portraits with mystery and realism, and showing the enhancement of nature. In my works, I want to evoke feelings and new thoughts, induce old memories and dreams to show the beauty of ordinary things. My passion is to express myself with pen and ink and make acrylic paint speak on my behalf.
Until 1998, I was living in Kazakhstan, where I was introduced to European and Asian cultures. I took my first art education in variety of Art Studios and workshops, and continued to study Fine Art for five years in Alma-Ata State Institute of Fine Art, Theatre and Design. I graduated from Alma-Ata with Bachelor Degrees in Fine Art and Design, and exhibited in a variety of group art shows. After that and until today I have been living in Canada, where I found my real homeland. I am running my home based Art Studio, where I teach Art, and work as a freelance artist. Over the years, I developed my own artistic style based on the traditions of some European and Asian artistic divisions, like ‘Synthetism’, with its usage of vivid colours, the purity of considerations of line and some simplifications of forms.
I exhibit in many online galleries, and in some galleries in Europe and North America, and my works can be found in Galleria Monteolivetto, Italy, France, but mostly in private collections around the world. My recent significant exhibitions are “Beyond Borders”, Exhibition of Fine Art from Canada, Agora Gallery, New York, USA in 2010, and variety of art shows in Gallery Monteolivetto, Italy, France during 2010- 2012, Solo Exhibition “Wonderful Promenade”, Gallery Monteolivetto, Nice, France in 2012, ”Art Takes Times Square” Special Performance by Twin Shadows, New York in 2012, “Regattas of America’s Cup” International Art Show and Competition in Naples, Italy in 2012 -2013, “In The Minds- Art of Innovation”, International Group Exhibition, Vividart Network and Gallery Mentana, Florence, Italy in 2013, and “Crossing Over” with Rio Gallery II and Art Tour International and Vivid Arts Network, New York in 2013. I also exhibited my works at Leighton Art Center in some group art shows and competitions like “Inspired by Travel” in 2012 and “ Transcending Tradition” in 2013, “ Below Zero” in 2014.
I am an active member of Calgary Sketch Club and Calgary Leighton Art Center. Some of my works were published in Poetry book of Viet Tran “Shining Above The Rainbow”, Blurb in 2012. I am working on few projects presently, and one of them is the series “Western Reflections”. It is my desire to honor the spirit of the West by bringing out its romantic vision.
